Browns lose to Ravens, 16-0

Just when you thought this season couldn’t get any worse…
Down by 16 points on the final play of the game, the Browns’ lone playmaker, Josh Cribbs, goes down and has to be carted off the field and taken away in an ambulance. Obviously we all hope he will be ok. But really, why run a play like this and put the players at risk when a win is hopeless? It just doesn’t make any sense.
Aside from Cribbs’ injury, there were a couple big questions going into this game:
Could the Browns compete with the Ravens? It may have been ugly, but the game was tied at halftime (0-0). Of course the Ravens put up 16 points in the 3rd quarter to seal the game. But for a while, the Browns were in it. Why? It was the defense. The Browns’ defense only allowed Baltimore’s offense to score twice. For most teams, that would be enough to have a shot at winning. Not the Browns though. But the defense did fairly well.
How would Brady Quinn fare as the starting quarterback again? After being benched for Derek Anderson during the third game this season, the Browns came out of the bye week with Quinn back as the starter. Tonight’s start was not impressive in the least - 13 for 31 (41.9%) for 99 yards and 2 interceptions (one was returned for a touchdown).
Where do the Browns go from here? This season is over. It doesn’t look like they can win another game, even with the Lions, Chiefs, and Raiders on the schedule. I do hope Mangini sticks with Quinn. No reason to bench him at this point. Despite his struggles, there still may be a chance he could be a decent quarterback if he could get a better offensive line in front of him. But whatever happens, I feel like I’m about ready to lose interest in the Browns for this season. Especially if Cribbs’ injury is serious.
