Cavs are One Loss from Elimination

Lebron James - Cleveland Cavaliers The Cavs lost again tonight to the Magic, going down 3-1 in the series. Sure, it was another close game (116-114 in OT), just like the loss in game 1. But that doesn’t change the fact that Cleveland now has to win 3 straight against a tough Magic team or else they’re done.

How did it come to this?

I won’t pretend to have the answers. With every game in this series being televised on the cable network, TNT, I haven’t been able to watch the games. I’ve only been able to follow them with ESPN’s Gamecast and look at recaps and box scores. So what have the Cavaliers done wrong? What have the Magic done that Cleveland can’t stop? It all comes down to whose shots are falling and whose aren’t. If certain players were hitting even a slightly higher percentage of their shots (like Mo Williams, shooting 32% for the series), the Cavs could easily be up 3-1 in the series.

Instead, Cleveland is down 3-1. If not for Lebron James’ last second shot in game 2, this series would have been over tonight with a sweep. But there’s still a chance, thanks to that shot.

Part of me wants to believe the Cavs can come back. Yes, they have to win 3 in a row. But despite their sub-par performance as a team, they still only lost game 1 by a point and game 4 by two points. If the team picks up their performance even a little bit, this series is very winnable.

The other part of me thinks the Cavs will blow game 5 at home and this incredible season will have been in vain. Then we’ll just have to wait until next year. It’s what Cleveland fans are best at.
