Browns lose to Colts, 10-6

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Meet your new starting quarterback, Browns fans.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised at anything this year. Derek Anderson, despite playing badly, started the first 8 games of the season. Then Romeo Crennel finally gives Brady Quinn the starting job. Quinn starts 3 games before having his season ended by a broken finger. Back comes Anderson. Then this week, in a game that should not have been this close, he has a chance to lead a game winning drive in the final 2 minutes. But he goes down. Welcome Ken Dorsey.

Can it get any worse for the Browns?

The Browns were playing host to the Houston Texans on Sunday. This is the Houston team that came in with a 3-7 record, 8 consecutive road losses, and had backup Sage Rosenfels starting at QB. What a way to finish off the regular season.

With the win…

  • The Buckeyes clinch at least a share of the Big Ten title.
  • They win their 5th straight game against Michigan.
  • Beat them by 35 points - the largest margin of victory over the Wolverines since 1968.
  • And they help cap off the Michigan’s worst season. Ever.

Browns beat Bills, 29-27

Romeo will survive at least one more week.

Honestly, after Phil Dawson kicked the go-ahead FG, I thought the Bills were going to come back and win. I figured we were looking at a third consecutive loss where this team blew a double-digit lead (and hopefully as a result, would bring about a head coaching change). But the defense forced a long FG attempt for Buffalo. Rian Lindell put it wide right. Cleveland is 2-0 on Monday night.

Cavs Update, 11.17.08

Monday, November 17th, 2008

It’s been a little while since I mentioned the Cavaliers. I have to admit, it’s much easier to do regular updates on Browns and Buckeyes football since they only play once a week. With basketball games every 2-3 days, it’s hard to keep up with it all from a distance. But here’s the latest update.

305.

That’s the number of rushing yards Ohio State had against the Illini. Chris “Beanie” Wells ran for 143 yards. Terrelle Pryor added 110 on the ground. The running game was so effective that Pryor only had to attempt 10 passes.
